Kelah Sanctuary, Tasik Kenyir
Tasik Kenyir is a big lake with an area of 225 sq miles and the Kelah Sanctuary is located at Petang river, about 45 minutes from the jetty. The river has 91 streams flowing into it, mainly from Mount Padang. The sanctuary in Petang river allows Kelah (or Malaysian Golden Mahseer) to breed in it’s natural environment and it is only open to public from March to October. What makes this sanctuary exciting is the opportunity visitors have to swim and catch the fish by hand as well as have their feet nibbled at by the many species of Kelah fish.
