This scientific workshop aim to provide knowledge, exposure to techniques and hands-on experience for researchers in microbiology and molecular biology mainly.
Event details
It will provide an opportunity to learn about and keep up-to-date with the rapidly progressing area microbiology and molecular approaches. You can expect a mixture of theoretical and practical (hands-on) aspects of molecular techniques (such as PCR and sequencing & Biolog GEN III Technology) in our Agri-food, Pests and Diseases Management laboratory. It will cover presentations on the areas of microbiology (including fungal diseases of plant), environmental microbiology, molecular biology and microarray meta-analysis of bioinformatics. Participant will be exposed to Biolog Microbial Identification System which uses the same platform for identification of anaerobic bacteria, yeast and filamentous fungi. The system also enables researchers to study and monitor shifts of microbial population in wastewater treatment, in compost and in soils microbial diversity. The workshop will be held at School of Food Science and Technology, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT). In addition, we will visit the Kelah Sanctuary, at Kenyir Lake where participant will get the opportunity to feed this freshwater fish while enjoying the natural environment.
Who should attending this workshop
This workshop is intended for postgraduates and researchers in relevant fields. Individuals from other institutions and industries are also accepted and most welcome. It is also open to other Schools and staff members of Universiti Malaysia Terengganu. The workshop is dedicated mainly to anyone who want to increase their expertise in this field.
Venue of Workshop and Location
School of Food Science and Technology, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu The LAPDiM is situated at level 1, the north east of the School of Food Science and Technology. Lectures by our invited speakers will be held at the seminar room, level 1, south of the building and has been the venue for most of our events.Address:
